"Non-toxic" gets used loosely. Here is exactly what we commit to — and what you can expect to see, smell, and feel the moment you sit down.

  • 9-free, non-toxic polishes

    Our lacquers leave out the harshest offenders — formaldehyde, toluene, DBP and more — so the color on your nails is cleaner from the first coat.

  • Vegan & cruelty-free

    No animal-derived ingredients and nothing tested on animals. Every product on our shelf is chosen to align with that standard.

  • Low-fume by design

    We choose lower-odor systems and skip the products that fill a room with harsh chemical smell. Gentler on you, gentler on us.

  • Genuinely well-ventilated

    Fresh air moves through the studio continuously. The room stays clear — a small thing you notice the moment you walk in.

  • Single-use files & buffers

    Files and buffers are opened fresh in front of you and never reused. Metal tools are cleaned and sterilized between every guest.

Our story

Beauty that's better for everyone in the room.

Willow Hayes spent a decade behind the chair before opening Fern & Polish — and somewhere along the way, the headaches from strong fumes and the worn-down state of her own hands stopped feeling normal. She started asking a simple question: why should looking good cost the people who do this work their wellbeing?

Fern & Polish is her answer. A studio where the polishes are vegan and 9-free, the air is genuinely fresh, and soft-gel replaces the harshest acrylic. The result is a manicure that's kinder to your nails, kinder to the planet, and kinder to the technician sitting across from you — without giving up on a finish that looks beautiful and lasts.
